I've often said that distribution is a very dicey business. What people do not understand is how dicey it can get. Even when you are a "success"

I've just confirmed that Mark Gill has been pushed out as president of Warner Independent Pictures before renewal of his contract, which expires in August. He was on the phone to his staff tonight. This is the guy who snagged March of the Penguins for $1 mil, made gazillions for Warner Bros. and won an Oscar for the studio.
And he got a pink slip... Management changes at distributors happen with alarming regularity. It's why you take your timedrafting your contract so you are protected when things like this happen. If you go for the quick buck or the quick deal you will often end up with a nasty surprise.
Its a very dicey business folks...those who run rush thier deals do so at thier own peril.
